DOCUMENTARY | This is a documentary about my grandmother, Elizabeth van Eerd-Neeskens, better known as Lies or Oma.
She was born in 1925 and grew up on a farm house in the south of the Netherlands. Being the youngest in the family, my grandmother was the first of her siblings to leave the farm and start her own family in the nearby village.
Lies often recalls her early days: working hard in the fields, the squeals of the pig being slaughtered, picking fights with rivalling neighbourhood kids and smuggling butter across the border.
The farm of my grandmother's childhood will soon be demolished.
As Lies' mind is slowly dwindling away, so is the farm house.
Oma Lieske died in 2018.
